Overview:
This training equips procurement professionals with the key strategic tools required to move beyond transactional purchasing and create greater business value.
It develops a structured understanding of Responsible Purchasing, Compliance and Ethics, including CSR principles and Local Content considerations.
Participants learn how to design and implement more sustainable and responsible procurement strategies.
The course introduces Category Management as a methodology to structure purchasing families, define strategies and measure performance.
It also develops the ability to analyse markets using tools such as SWOT Analysis and Porter’s Five Forces.
Participants learn how to translate market intelligence into coherent Category and Vendor Strategies.
A strong focus is placed on Cost Analysis, including Should Cost and Total Cost of Ownership methodologies.
Through practical business cases, participants understand how to identify and reconstruct the full cost structure of industrial equipment.
The course also explains the benefits, constraints and practical use of Frame Agreements and Frame Contracts, including an OCTG business case.
Overall, the training strengthens the Buyer’s ability to make better-informed, more strategic, cost-effective and responsible procurement decisions.

Audience: This module is mainly designed for Buyers and Contract Engineers or actors of the Supply Chain who need to define a Purchasing Strategy.

Deliverables: Upon completion of this module, Participants will be able to conduct a Market Analysis of their market segment enabling them to define a Purchasing/Contracting Strategy. Through many exercises, they will define themselves the strategy to implement based on their analysis of the Market.

Certificate: The training will be completed by an online test on EvalBox. Upon completion of the training, including the test, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance issued by Adinergy.

  1. Responsible Purchasing (developed): Responsible Purchasing Definition & Principles. Examples of actions in Responsible Purchasing – The standards in CSR – Responsible Purchasing and Local Content development - Implementing a Responsible Purchasing Strategy (overview) - Compliance and Ethics.

  2. Category Management: Category Management Definition – Role of the Category Manager – Category Management Process: Strategy Definition – Detailed implementation Plan – Performance Measurement.

  3. Cost Structure: Should Cost – Total Cost of Ownership: Through business cases, the various Cost Structure methodologies will be explained and demonstrated allowing to understand how to build the complete costs elements of tubular or any industrial equipment.

  4. Market Analysis & Vendor’s Strategy: Market Analysis: SWOT Analysis – The 5 Porter Forces – Category & Vendors Strategy. Group exercise on "Kraljic" portfolio analysis matrix and on Purchasing level.

  5. Frame Agreement & Frame Contract: Definition – Comparison – Benefits and Constraints – Goods covered by the Frame Contract. Business Case: Analysis of a Frame Agreement for OCTG.
